Engraved Wooden Sign

I’m working on a new tool wall for my shop. I film a lot in this area so I thought it would be cool to have a sign with my logo displayed on the wall. I had some red oak that I thought would be ideal because it’s lighter in color than the shiplap wall.

I glued up some boards to make a panel approximately 12” square. I then used the CNC to cut out a circle that’s 11” in diameter. Once it was cut out, I took it to the Glowforge laser and engraved my logo. I wanted a larger sign, but I really liked the idea of the burnt laser logo so it pops in the background. I could have used the CNC to engrave the entire thing and then used something like epoxy or stain inside the engraving. Maybe I will at another time. It made sense to me to use the laser (since it’s what I wanted anyway), even if it’s a bit smaller. On the bright side, that gives me some more room for new tools!
