Plaid Office Organizer

The 2020 COVID-19 virus quarantine is causing a lot of stress on us all. In an effort to help brighten people’s spirits, several of us makers held a scrap wood project challenge. The goal was to get other makers to build something from scraps currently in their shops, since physical distancing may preclude people from being able to buy materials.

I dug through my scrap bin and came up with an idea for a desk caddy to help organize stuff sitting on my desktop. I found an off-cut of plaid that I think was a remnant from the plaid gentlemen’s box that I made (check out the video!). From there, a design sort of took shape, to include some dowels, curved edges, and a drawer. The project ended up being really fun. There was a lot of pivoting in this build and everything was off the cuff. We all used #BuildAtHome on social media if you want to see some behind the scenes pictures and stories.

Here is a list of all the makers who participated. Please check out their builds to see how they decided to tackle this challenge.
