Wood Brain Teaser Project Plans

A small amount of shop time equals a big amount of fun!  The only difficulty with this brain teaser puzzle project is for the recipient trying to put it together! A smooth, quick build from start to finish, this puzzle is a great gift for adults and kids alike. A classic “toy” that can be played again and again, this is hit at every family gathering or even a quiet night at home. Putting these together provides enough of a challenge to keep it interesting, but it’s not so difficult that Grandma keeps her famous pie recipe a secret from you.

These plans explain how to make three different brain teaser wooden puzzles. Each one uses very little material, but has a big impact once all said and done.

The Nail Puzzle Cube is a six piece headache that combines wood shapes with dowels, making it more complicated than it looks.

The Devil’s Knot is appropriately named. It consists of six pieces with cutouts and notches that have to be aligned in the perfect way. Printable templates for this one are shown at the end of these plans.

The Cubed Triangle is a frustrating exercise of patience. While it only has four pieces, do your best not to angerly throw them across the room
