Articulating Phone Holder
I used random junk to make a phone holder. It was a challenge. Did it work? Well…
This phone articulating phone holder is actually a woodworking creativity challenge. I think the best way to build creativity skills is to test yourself. I took trash that I had available to me and attempted to reclaim it and make a woodworking project. After sorting through all of the junk, I decided to make a wooden phone number with an articulating arm.
There were some serious challenges with this woodworking project. It needed to pivot in different directions. It also needed to hold the phone and capture both landscape and portrait. I ended up using hinges from the leaf of a table to connect the base to the primary wood arm. I salvaged some automotive bolts and sprinkler brass caps to make tension knobs that allow the other sections of the phone holder to move and lock in place. I used cherry for the wood species. I thought it would look best with the brass parts I was able to salvage.
Overall, I think this was a fun woodworking challenge! Trying to reclaim trash and make it into something useful is an incredible task. I know I learned a lot from the whole process.
