Media Cabinet

I’m making an incredible walnut media cabinet for electronics. It is designed in two pieces: a long section with a flip up front door, and a shorter section with two insanely cool old post box doors! These doors were provided by someone who asked me to build this electronics cabinet; I didn’t buy them, but man they are cool! I had to figure out how to use them and that was a bit tricky. Plus, I had to see if I could get them to work.

There is a couple other feature that made this media center unique. There is an access panel on the side, just in case these old mail box doors stick and won’t open. The cabinet goes against a wall so this panel won’t be seen. The larger section of the cabinet has a flip up door that hides multiple shelves. The bottom shelf has hidden magnets. There are rare earth magnets inside the door too. The door locks into place and you would never know that the magnets are there!

To finish it all off, I made two custom walnut trays that fit inside. These trays are sloped with cutout fronts so they can easily be pulled out. The whole project was finished with General Finishes Arm-R-Seal satin.
